Embark on a journey through time and discover the enchanting medieval beauty of Rupit and Besalú on this exciting excursion from the Catalan coast. Two historic towns await you with their cobblestone streets, ancient bridges and stone buildings that will transport you to bygone eras full of history and charm.
We will begin early in the morning, meeting to begin a trip of approximately an hour and a half that will take us to Rupit, one of the most picturesque towns in Catalonia. Upon arriving in Rupit, you will have free time to explore the town at your own pace. Let yourself be captivated by its narrow cobblestone streets and admire the typical stone houses that evoke the medieval atmosphere of the region.
We will continue our excursion ascending more than 1,000 meters in height until we reach the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu del Far, where we can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the natural environment of Gerona, in addition to exploring the chapel and its interior.
Our next destination will be Besalú, about 50 minutes from the sanctuary. This town is part of the rich medieval heritage of Gerona and has important monuments such as the medieval bridge, the Jewish miqvé, the church of San Pedro and the old pilgrim hospital. We will enjoy a delicious typical local meal to recharge our batteries before returning to the starting point.
