Excursion to Vic, Rupit and Basalú

Join us on an exciting adventure to discover some of the most picturesque medieval towns in Catalonia on this excursion to Vic, Rupit and Besalú from Santa Susana. In addition, you will have the opportunity to explore the impressive La Garrotxa Natural Park, where nature and history intertwine to create extraordinary landscapes that will captivate you.

Itinerary

We will begin our day by picking you up at your hotel in Santa Susana between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. Aboard our comfortable minibus, we will first head towards Besalú, a charming medieval town that keeps a rich history among its cobbled streets. Upon arrival, we will cross the old Old Bridge of Besalú, an architectural jewel from the 11th century built on a Roman bridge.

We will explore the old town of Besalú, marveling at its Romanesque and Gothic churches, such as Sant Pere, Santa María and Sant Vicenç. We will also visit the old Jewish quarter to discover its medieval baths, witnesses of the history of the Jewish community in the region.

After exploring Besalú, we will head to the impressive La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. Here, we will enjoy a short walk along trails surrounded by beech, oak and holm oak forests, while we contemplate the beauty of the extinct volcanoes and lava flows that make up this unique landscape.

Our next stop will take us to Rupit, another medieval town with a special charm. We will walk through its cobbled streets and admire the stone houses that date from the 16th and 17th centuries. You will have an hour of free time to enjoy food at one of the quaint local restaurants.

We will continue our trip to Vic, passing through the impressive Cingles del Tavertet, a natural setting that offers spectacular panoramic views of the Sau valley and the Osona plain. In Vic, we will explore its lively Plaza Mayor and admire Gothic buildings such as Casa Beuló and Casa Tolosa.

Before returning to Santa Susana, we will stop at the ruins of the Palau dels Montcada to contemplate a vestige of the region's historical past. We will conclude our excursion by dropping you back at your hotel between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
