Discover the traces of a remarkable Jewish community on our exciting tour of the Jewish quarter of Gerona, where every corner tells a centuries-old story!
Our meeting point will be Plaza Sant Feliu, from where we will enter the Jewish quarter, a historical and cultural treasure. Known as "the Call", this enclave was at its peak one of the largest in Europe, housing a thriving Jewish community of a thousand inhabitants during the Middle Ages.
We will walk through the narrow streets of the neighborhood, passing by ancient synagogues and the residence of the famous Kabbalah teacher, Moshe Ben Nahman. Through the expert guide, we will learn about the traditions, utensils, and architectural structures that defined the daily life of the Jews in this city.
The Jewish History Museum will give us a deeper insight into this fascinating culture, while our guide will share details about the expulsion of the Jews in 1492, an event that marked the end of six centuries of coexistence in Gerona. After three hours of immersion in the Call, we will fully understand the enduring influence of the Jewish community in this city.
